Today Rhea’s bail plea denied, to spend nights in Byculla Jail Kevalnews

Actor Rhea Chakraborty will have to spend more nights in Byculla Jail as the Mumbai Court denied her bail plea today. Rhea has been arrested over drugs charges linked to the Sushant Singh Rajput case by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and has been sent to judicial custody till September 22.

The bail requests of her brother Showik Chakraborty and eight other accused were also rejected.

Her lawyer will now approach the Bombay High Court for bail.

In her bail request, Rhea had retracted her confession and said she was “coerced into making self-incriminatory confessions”. She said she had “not committed any crime whatsoever and had been falsely implicated in the case”. The girlfriend of Sushant had also claimed rape and death threats and “a severe toll on her mental health and well-being” because of multiple investigations.

However, NCB said that if released on bail, the actor “may tamper with the evidence and also try to win over witnesses using her position in the society and money power”.

Rhea had knowledge of drugs which Sushant was using, said the agency, and had “made herself part of this offence by procuring drugs” for him.

Reports suggest that Rhea has been kept at a separate cell at the Byculla jail. This cell is near the general barracks of the ground floor of the prison. This cell is similar to the one in which Indrani Mukerjea, the accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, has been lodged since the year 2016.
